Sanghyun Byun

I am a first-year Ph.D. student at the University of Cambridge, working with Prof. Rafal Mantiuk. I concurrently work as an AI Research Scientist at LG Electronics Silicon Valley Emerging Technology Lab, CTO Office.

Previously, I received my M.S. in Computer Science (AI) at University of Southern California and B.S. in Computer Science & Engineering at University of California, Irvine. At UCI, I worked closely with Prof. Aditi Majumder on medical AI.

Research

My research focuses on Efficient Perception, specifically Graphics (e.g., Image-based Rendering), Computer Vision (e.g., Visual Representation, VLM), and Efficient AI (e.g., Adaptive Token, LLM Compression). My current interests span:

• Visual affordance prediction for robot manipulation
• Representation in vision-language models
• Compression and acceleration of LLM
• G-buffer-free frame extrapolation
